Gold Dental provides gentle, kid-friendly dental care for children of all ages in Petersburg, VA. Children's dental services at Gold Dental include first dental visits, comprehensive exams, professional cleanings, fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel, dental sealants to protect back molars from cavities, tooth-colored fillings, extractions, space maintainers for early tooth loss, and orthodontic evaluations. We also provide emergency dental care for children who have knocked out a tooth or suffered dental trauma.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association both recommend scheduling a child's first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth comes in. Early visits allow us to monitor development, apply preventive treatments, and establish a relationship with your child before any treatment is needed. This makes future visits far less stressful for everyone.
Virginia Medicaid provides comprehensive dental benefits through age 20; FAMIS children's coverage is for eligible children under age 19. Cardinal Care Smiles, administered by DentaQuest, includes preventive and restorative care. Orthodontic treatment requires qualifying medical necessity and DentaQuest approval before treatment; not every child or type of braces qualifies.
